| I'm in the final stages of restoring an old "Marble" office chair, and need some advice..... All parts will be completely finished prior to reassembly of the chair. I would like to use Titebond Hide glue, but the assembly of the back slats, and chair back, to the seat will be pretty time consuming. The six back slats must have glue applied and inserted into the mortises in the seat, before installing the chair back (one U shaped piece consisting of each chair-back side and the backrest) The tops of the back slats need to then have glue applied before being fitted into the corresponding mortises of the backrest. That complete assembly must then be moved forward (toward the front of the seat) until the side pieces come into alignment with the side anchor holes in the seat. The whole process will only take about five minutes, but I'm concerned that the glue joints will begin to "set" before everything is situated into the correct position. Anyone have suggestions concerning either my order of reassembly, lengthing open time for the glue, or am I needlessly worried about something that may not become an issue?

Application Guidelines Application temperatureAbove 50°F.
Open assembly time10 minutes (70°F./50% RH)
Total assembly time20-30 minutes (70°F./50%RH)
This is from the Titebond TDS sheet. That is a much longer open time than hot hide glue, so I don't think you will have any problems with your assembly time.

Thanks for the tips. I'll do a couple more "trial runs", then moisten the tenons and take the dad-gummed phone off the hook........'cause you're right.......it'll ring every time you do a glue-up or stain job.....
Thanks again.
