5000
series professional respirator
from 3M is rated for use with paints and finishes and it's low cost makes it
perfect for the home or intermittent sprayer. A lot of the features of the
Professional series below but at a more affordable price (about the same
cost as replacement catridges). When the cartridges wear out, just dispose
of the respirator.
Not rated for
methylene chloride, ammonia, or un-reacted isocyanate finishes like 2
component polyurethane.

PRO SERIES ORGANIC VAPOR RESPIRATOR - This low-profile 7500
series professional respirator
from 3M (their best one) is rated for use with paints and finishes. The lightweight facepiece
is made from silicone for a softer and more comfortable fit as opposed to lower
quality elastomeric facepieces. The low profile of the cartridges results in a very
comfortable mask with excellent visibility. When you don't need it, just
un-hook the head strap and it drops down under your chin and you can
continue working without it getting in the way. I've tried dozens of
respirators, some triple the price of this one, and I've not found a better
one. Comes with 2 cartridges and 4 dust pre-filters so it works for both
finishing and sanding operations. Adjustable straps. When using for
sanding applications we recommend you get an extra box of #07194 pre-filters
(see below)
